About Me

I wish I could know about you and your life but this is my blog so...

My biggest dream was to be a wife and a mother.  I have sometimes felt like I needed to apologize for that and that I should want more, but honestly that has, as long as I can remember, been the desire of my heart.  I wanted a great marriage and to have children, at least 3 or 4.

I feel like I am the most blessed woman on the planet.  My husband of 25 years is my best friend and we have a blast together.  We are one of those couples that never get tired of hanging out together.  He is my favorite person on the planet, favorite to laugh with, cry with, work with and live life with.  I prayed for a man with a sensitive heart and boy did God answer that prayer.  Ty cries more than I do and I am not kidding.  He has THE most tender heart of any man I know and I love it... most of the time!!!

We had 4 children in less than 6 years.  Emily was born 11 months after we were married.  Annie came along 20 months later, Tyler D came 2 years later and Turner, (our 4th, 5th and 6th child... another blog entry) came along 20 months after Tyler.  I was blessed to be a stay at home mom and spent a decade rocking babies, changing diapers and reading books.  I stayed in my bathrobe many a day... and quickly changed before Ty walked through the door at the end of the day.

Our children are all grown now and we became empty nesters this fall.  It has been a huge change for us and we have made the adjustment better than expected.  Maybe because our first grandchild is due February 15, 2012, a boy!!!  We are beyond excited.  I cannot believe I will be a grandma.  It is surreal for sure.

I work part- time at The Hope Center for Kids.  It is a non-profit after school outreach in Omaha's inner city.  My husband is the founder and executive director and Hope was founded in 1999.  Check us out at www.hopecenterforkids.com.  I help raise funds and awareness for the important work that The Hope Center does in Omaha.  I am so proud of our staff and proud to be a part of an amazing team.

As far as my passions go, I love to cook, entertain, and be with people in general.  To say I am an extravert is an understatement.  I love people.  Another passion I have is to encourage mothers and wives to be the best they can be in their role.  I want to take anything I have had invested in me and pass it on to anyone who will listen.  I want to give back all that has been give to me.  That is why I have started a blog so I hope you are blessed and inspired to be the best you that you can possibly... and give yourself grace when you are not a very good you!!!!!
